International Foundation for Aviation, Aerospace and Development (India Chapter)
MISSION

Founded as a non-profit organization in 2005, IFFAAD is incorporated and has its seat in Montreal, host city of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Montreal has also been the world capital of aviation for more than fifty years. The initiative for the Foundation originated from Dr. Sanat Kaul, the then Representative of India to the Council of ICAO who became the first Chairman and is currently heading the India Chapter in New Delhi. IFFAAD is proud to have Dr. Assad Kotaite former President of the ICAO Council as its Governor Emeritus and Dr. Charles Bédard a former permanent representative of Canada to ICAO as its co-founder and present Chairman.
                                
The IFFAAD (India Chapter) set up in New Delhi in 2007 is a non-government organization incorporated as a society incorporated under the Societies Registration Act.  In 2009 ‘aerospace’ was included in the mandate of IFFAAD (India Chapter).  Thus today full form of IFFAAD (India Chapter) chapter is International Foundation for Aviation, Aerospace & Development.  IFFAAD has an active membership of leading professionals from the aviation, space and development sectors. 

IFFAAD Mission is to be an important focal point (independent think-tank) for the exchange of ideas and promotion of public interest in aviation and development worldwide. In particular it wishes to encourage cooperation between various interested sectors, such as aerospace, tourism, industry, commerce and social development and to foster a constructive dialogue amongst policy makers (governments, industries, international organizations, et al.) universities, professionals, students and individuals. As a ‘think tank’, IFFAAD, Montreal, will play a complimentary role in assisting the ICAO and IATA on critical aviation related issues. While IFFAAD (India Chapter) will play a complimentary role in assisting the Ministry of Civil Aviation, DGCA and other civil aviation regulators in India.

The focus of Mission is to assist in providing innovative solutions for the challenges triggered by the global exponential growth of the aviation sector, its inevitable convergence with space and its immense symbiotic impact on development.  The issues that are addressed by IFFADD include the safety, security and   environmental impact of the balanced growth of the aviation sector in the context of sustainable socio-economic development interface, and cross-sector issues, among others. 

In 2007 IFFAAD (India Chapter) added an important focus to Mission: to engage in advocacy and awareness creation vis-à-vis the synergistic relationship between aviation and development. The new public awareness programme was initiated in consequence of lessons learnt from
